Executive Head's Welcome
Thank you for your interest in Romans Field School and a warm welcome from everyone connected with the school.
Having been the Headteacher initially and now the Executive Headteacher of Romans Field School for some time now, I continue to feel very proud and privileged to be leading this school. We are now in a very strong position with rising pupil numbers and a learning environment which enables us to address the wide and complex needs of our children. I am also very fortunate to be the leader of a team of staff who really care for the children and who put them at the forefront of everything we do. Everyone at Romans Field strives for the best for every child.
Romans Field is part of the Inclusive Learning Federation which, was initially created in 2016 and further expanded the following year. The Federation is unique within the Milton Keynes area made up of Romans Field, a special school and two mainstream primary schools, Bradwell Village, a junior school for 7 to 11 year olds and Priory Common, an infant school for 4 – 7 year olds. As a Federation the staff work closely together for the benefit of all of the children. The Federation also provides extensive CPD opportunities for staff.
Romans Field School is a small school for children aged 5 to 11 whose primary need is SEMH (social, emotional, mental health). We also have children with significant complex needs who follow a bespoke Romans Field curriculum. In September 2021, our PAN (Pupil Admission Number) will increase from 50 to 66.
The school serves the wider Milton Keynes area but also educates children from Northamptonshire, Luton, Buckinghamshire, Bedford and Bedfordshire.
The most important priority for the school is to provide high quality education for every child within a safe, caring and orderly environment. To this end, we are committed to meeting the individual academic, personal and social needs of children. We achieve this by working in partnership with parents, carers and external agencies to provide a wealth of experience and opportunities which encourage every child to achieve their full potential. Our aims also include enabling the children to be confident, responsible, independent and well-educated individuals able to fulfil positive role models in society and to have a successful future. We have high aspirations for our children with many transferring back to mainstream education.
Everyone at Romans Field School makes every effort to provide each child with the necessary care and support so they feel safe, happy and successful.
We aim to provide exciting and challenging learning experiences which encourage pupils to learn, want to learn and to be independent learners – children who can think for themselves, express themselves easily and function in a wide variety of environments. In order to do this, we have created a positive ethos which focuses on raising our pupils’ self-esteem through reward and recognition on the basis that the more successful you feel, the more successful you will be. We involve our pupils in the decision-making process of the school through the School Council and by having pupils present whenever we are interviewing for new staff.
I trust the information on our website is of interest to you. If you require any further information or assistance please contact us and we will be happy to help.
