Welcome to Tawny Owls

Tawny Owls is a small class of six children, all with autism and communication diff. As a mixed-age and ability group, we strive to build positive relationships, encourage cooperation, and foster a love of learning.

Our focus in Tawny Owls is on supporting children’s self-regulation, communication, and social interaction. We adopt a total communication approach alongside play-based learning to respond to each child’s individual needs and ensure meaningful progress. Every pupil has personalised learning targets, carefully adapted and supported through our Romans Field curriculum. Teaching is delivered using a variety of approaches, including TEACCH stations, Attention Autism, Intensive Interaction, as well as daily interventions to develop speech, language, and fine motor skills.
